Back to school is not just about kids getting a new backpack, and a clean set of clothes. On back to school day, everybody in the family is going “back” to something. A norm, a rhythm, a routine. This should be good news!

While we may not want to think about it just yet, Back-to-School time is right around the corner (hey, in other parts of the country school has already started!). Whether you are happy about this time of year or not, one thing is for sure, “Back-to-School” comes with a whole different mindset.

It may still be summer outside but we have all seen the back to school ads on TV.  Now that it’s August we are faced with the inevitability that the kids are heading back to school before we know it!   I recommend putting systems into place and creating a space or “home” for school items and homework to help make the transition a smooth one.

South Orange Middle School is having a first ever South Orange Wellness Extravaganza on Thursday, April 16th at the South Orange Middle School Gymnasium from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This event is sponsored by YouthNet and Governor’s Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse. All South Orange and Maplewood children as well as parents are invited.
